In fulfillment of the OCI Foundation’s pledge to roll-out the Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Health Campaign across the Nigerian Nation, the Foundation, in partnership with the Daniel Amokachi Foundation, has concluded plans to stage a mini-awareness and flag-off ceremony at the CDM Academy International Secondary School, Akuhwa Gong Estate, Mkar, Gboko, Benue State of Nigeria. The CDM (Christian, Discipleship, Mission) Academy is an elite and outstanding International Secondary School which opened on the 6th October 2008 at Akuhwa Gong Estate, Mkar, Gboko, Benue State of Nigeria.

This will the first of what is expected to be a State-wide roll-out in Benue State, and details are as follows:

Date: Tuesday November the 14th, to Thursday, November the 16th

Time: From 2pm to 5pm, Prompt.

Venue: CDM Academy International Secondary School, Akuhwa Gong Estate, Mkar, Gboko, Benue State of Nigeria.

Highlights:

  1. A formal introduction of the ArOY Campaign
  2. Presentation of free OCI ArOY Textbooks and other souvenirs to the school;
  3. Demonstration of the OCI CerviBreast App, a free mobile phone App dedicated to the ArOY Campaign;
  4. Training of selected teachers from the CDM Academy on the ArOY interventions, to ensure long-term sustainability of the intervention;
  5. Speeches by distinguished guests
  6. A brief documentary of the event in Anambra State. This is available HERE.
  7. Among others.

 

Other possible activities include courtesy visits to:

  1. The First Lady of Benue State, and Founder, Eunice of Life Foundation, Her Excellency Eunice Ortom (PhD);
  2. The Honorable Commissioner for Education, Benue State, Prof Dennis Tyavyar;
  3. The Vice Chancellor of Benue State University, Makurdi, Prof Msugh Moses Kembe;
  4. The Director of Catholic Secondary Schools, Benue State.

 

The “ArOY Campaign”, is a Harvard-endorsed, evidence-based health promotion initiative of the OCI Foundation that aims to integrate anti-breast and cervical cancer teachings into the curriculum of Nigerian senior secondary (high) schools using a cost-effective, all-encompassing, sustainable and culturally-acceptable strategy. For more details on the ArOY Campaign, please click HERE.
