OCI Foundation unveils its “ArOY Campaign Face of Benue State”, as it recognizes winner of the “2020 FACE OF Tiv INTERNATIONAL PAGEANTRY” that held on December 17, 2020.

Miss Veronica Mlumun IORTYER has emerged the “Face of the ArOY Campaign for Benue State, Nigeria. This is an automatic recognition, following her emergence as the winner of the “2020 Face of Tiv International”” that was held in Markurdi, Benue State, from December the 15th to the 17th, 2020.

Queen Vera, as she is now known, is currently an undergraduate student of the University of Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria, and will be working closely with the OCI Foundation as its innovative and life-saving Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Health Campaign is rolled out across Benue State, and, possibly, the rest of Nigeria. She is also expected to play a role as the OCI Foundation commences engagements with all tertiary institutions in Nigeria, which is one of its new initiatives of 2021.

The ArOY Campaign is a novel, Harvard-endorsed, WHO-supported, and evidence-based health promotion initiative of the OCI Foundation, which is being introduced across all senior secondary schools in Nigeria as a way of tackling breast and cervical cancers.

In September 2019, it was rolled out across all the 261 senior secondary schools in Anambra State of Nigeria, and a similar event, scheduled for Benue State in May 2020, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. All of Nigeria’s 36 states (and the FCT) are expected to benefit from the ArOY campaign on or before the end of 2025, and the ongoing consultations are part of this whole process.
