Ending Gender-Based Violence: Nigeria’s NOA hosts OCI Foundation and others to Road Show and Stakeholders’ Dialogue (Dec 2024; Abuja, Nigeria)

Tuesday, December 3, 2024: As has been the case in the years before now, the OCI Foundation joined Nigeria’s National Orientation Agency (NOA) at their Headquarters in Abuja for a “Stakeholder’s Dialogue” as part of the “16 Days Activism to End Gender-Based Violence”.

The OCI Foundation was represented by officers from its Advocacy Team in Abuja, Felicia Dagu and Luter IKYOBO.

A Road Show marking the activism against Gender-Based Violence was also held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. The OCI Foundation also participated.

The OCI Foundation is at the forefront of tackling gender-based violence in Nigeria. Working with lawmakers in both chambers of Nigeria’s “9th National Assembly” in 2023, the Foundation successfully pushed through a Legislative Bill aimed at minimising the scourge of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) by targeting students across junior and senior secondary school students in all parts of Nigeria. That Bill is still awaiting Presiential Assent before becoming a law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Details and news reports of that Bill can be found HERE.

The NOA is an official partner to the OCI Foundation. On March 9th, 2021, the NOA signed an MOU with the OCI Foundation, in a brief but colorful ceremony held at the NOA Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria. Details of the ceremony can be found HERE.
