ROLL-OUT DETAIL FOR THE ARM OUR YOUTHS CAMPAIGN
The Arm Our Youths Campaign, otherwise known as the “ArOY Campaign”, is a Harvard-endorsed, evidence-based health promotion initiative of the OCI Foundationthat aims to integrate breast and cervical cancer awareness campaigns in Nigeria. The Campaign integrates anti-breast and cervical cancer teachings into the curriculum of Nigerian senior secondary (high) schools using a cost-effective, all-encompassing, sustainable and culturally-acceptable strategy.
The schedule for the roll-out has been scheduled as follows:
1. September 10th to 12th: Flag-off Ceremony and Workshop
- Official flag-off ceremony: September 10th
- Venue: Main Auditorium, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria
- Expected guests include the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Nigeria, the Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria, serving commissioners of Anambra Satte, Nigeria, the WHO Zonal Director, South-East Nigeria, leading industrialists, top Nollywood stars, and many more.
- The main workshop: September 11th and 12th
- Venue: Main Auditorium, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria
- This will involve about 300 teachers from all the 261 senior secondary schools in Anambra State Nigeria;
- To be anchored by public health consultants from top institutions in Nigeria.
- This is an event to “train the trainers”.
2. From September 15th, 2019: Roll-out of the teachings across all senior secondary schools in Anambra State of Nigeria.
3. October 2019: Main ArOY Campaign Launch. The exact date is yet to be determined.
4. Between 2020 and 2025: Campaign roll-out across all the remaining 35 States in Nigeria and the FCT:
