On Sunday, July the 4th, 2021, the OCI Foundation officially became an AFFILIATE of the “International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA)“. IAWPA is a global NGO with ties to the United Nations (UN) Global Compact, which was in turn established in 2000 by the United Nations to promote global peace and harmony.
By this recognition, the OCI Foundation is expected to will work with IAWPA in supporting the United Nations to promote world peace, as well as in the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the event, which was staged at the Nicon Luxury Hotels, Abuja, Nigeria, the OCI Foundation was represented by its National Champion (Rev Dr Austin Epunam) and its Networking Manager (Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Rufai). Other members in attendance were Dr Fatima Inusa (Director of Gynocular Cancer Project), Ms Felicia Dagu (Admin Officer), and Mr Luter Ikyobo (Entertainment Liaison Officer) as well as Mr Ifeanyi Anueyiagu and Barr Vivian Ogochukwu Obinwa (Advocacy Team Members).
It should be recalled that, on May 13th, 2021, the OCI Foundation’s President, Dr Chris Ifediora, was appointed an “Eminent Peace Ambassador for the Year 2021”, by IAWPA in May 2021. The “Eminent Peace Ambassador Award” is the highest calling and most outstanding recognition to individuals whose life exemplify the ideals of living for the sake of others, and who dedicate themselves to promote universal moral values and the establishment of a cultural value system predicated on trust and peace.
