The OCI Foundation is pleased to announce the dates for the 2024 (Eight) Edition of the “Ifedioramma Okafor Memorial Secondary School Academic Awards” (IFOMSSA) Scholarship Awards. The annual scheme, which has the Junior and Senior categories, was named after the late Mr Ifedioramma Isaac Okafor (1939 to 2016), an Education Champion and father of the OCI Foundation’s Founder and President, Dr Chris Ifediora.
The two IFOMSSA scholarships make up two of the six awards on offer by the OCI Foundation. The 2024 Edition marks the eighth round of the scheme. Each annual Edition or Round is made up of two components: the IFOMSSA Challenge and the IFOMSSA Awards Ceremony.
The IFOMSSA Challenge is a merit-based one-day examination organised designed to select the winners of the IFOMSSA Senior Awards. The OCI Foundation delivers it in conjunction with the Otuocha Zone of the Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC (who is in charge of the educational activities in Anambra East Local Government Area of Nigeria).
Participants in the IFOMSSA Challenge include the best students from public senior secondary schools within the three Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the Otuocha Educational Zone, which is one of the Six educational zones in Anambra State. The three LGAs under the Zone are Anambra East, Anambra West, and Ayamelum Local Government Areas.
Between 10 and 20 students win the IFOMSSA Senior Award every year. Each winner receives an amount that will cover the entire registration fees for their 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examination Commission (NECO) Examinations. As has been the case in the past four editions, winners of the IFOMMSA Senior Award will also have their Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) Examination registration fees automatically covered. This is available once they indicate interest. The JAMB Award is the OCI Foundation’s third (of six) scholarship.
The IFOMSSA Awards-giving Ceremony allows winners of both the IFOMSSA Junior and Senior (not just the senior) and their parents to be honored by the OCI Foundation,
