As the immediate past Chairman of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), Anambra State of Nigeria, Lady Joy Ulasi is an experienced technocrat and well positioned to champion the course of the OCI Foundation’s Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Campaign. In this position, Lady Ulasi was in charge of over 260 secondary schools in the State for 7 years (2012 to 2019).
She was also a former President, Anambra State branch of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary School (ANCOPPSS), a position she has held for 11 years. In addition, she previously served as the Treasurer for the Association of Directors of State Education Commissions.
Lady Ulasi holds a Bachelor of Science degree (Zoology) and a Post Graduate Diploma (Education) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Nigeria. She also holds Diplomas in Computer Application Software and Computer Education from AFRIHUB, and commands a 40-year experience in secondary school administration, both as a teacher and a principal of various schools in South-eastern Nigeria.
Under Mrs Ulasi’s leadership, Anambra State of Nigeria had emerged as a leading light in education in Nigeria, and it comes as little surprise that she is a recipient of multiple awards, including an Educational Leadership Merit Award and Proficiency in Leadership Award.
We at the OCI Foundation consider ourselves very fortunate to have this vastly experienced lady in our team, as we work to find a sustainable and culturally-acceptable way of including the teachings against breast and cervical cancers into the regular academic curriculum for senior secondary schools across the whole of Anambra State, and subsequently, Nigeria.
