On Friday, November 8, 2024, the Otuocha Educational Zone of Anambra State, Nigeria, became the SECOND Zone from the State to feature in the 4th (2024/2025) EDITION of the OCI Foundation’s “Anambra ArOY Health Campaign Schools Challenge (a.k.a. Anambra AHCSC)”.
Nnewi Zone had its own on November 5, 2024, while Awka, Aguata, Ogidi and Onitsha zones will hold theirs on November 13, 14, 15 and 19th, respectively.
The SIX Educational Zones in Anambra State include Aguata, Awka, Nnewi, Ogidi, Onitsha, and Otuocha.
For this 4th Edition, each zonal contest sees one winner emerge (usually two in the previous three editions). As such, a total of SIX winners are expected ahead of the Grande Finale on February 4, 2025. There will be no Semi Final for this 4th Edition, unlike in the previous years.
The Anambra AHCSC is being staged in conjunction with the State’s Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC), an arm of the Anambra State Government.
The competition is designed to enhance engagements with the OCI Foundation’s “Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Health Campaign”, which, in September 2019, introduced anti-breast and anti-cervical cancer teachings into the curriculum of all public senior secondary schools in Anambra State.
As stated, the Grand Finale will be held on February 4th, 2024, in Awka, the capital city of Anambra State, Nigeria. February 4th of every year is “Global World Cancer Day”, and the AHCSC Finals and Award Ceremony are designed to coincide with that date.
