The OCI Foundation is pleased to announce that the “2022 Edition of its Cyfed Scholarships Program” will now be extended indefinitely. This means that applications for the current round of scholarships, which have been ongoing since February 22, 2022, will now continue beyond the proposed deadline, which is April 26th, 2022.
This extension is a direct result of the enforced closures that have paralysed most public-owned universities and tertiary institutions across Nigeria for the past few months. We are mindful of the fact that these closures, triggered by the industrial actions from the academic and non-academic staff of these institutions, are ongoing, and have no end in sight. As such, most interested applicants have been unable to upload their supporting documents to the application portal, as required.
The current applications for Cyfed Scholarships will now officially close exactly SIX WEEKS after the official resumption of academic activities in the affected institutions. For now, no one knows when this date will be.
For clarity, the Cyfed Scholarship Scheme includes the Cyfed Undergraduate Scholarship (CUS) and the Cyfed-Bradley Hope (CBH), Scholarship. Usually, the application portal for these scholarships opens automatically from February the 22nd, every year, and closes on April the 26th of the same year. This current industrial action has disrupted this year’s schedule.
