TRANSCORP HILTON HOTEL, ABUJA, NIGERIA

On Tuesday, October 19th, 2021, the OCI Foundation was among the stakeholders invited to a special dinner organised by the Nigerian First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC). FLAC is a group of 10 past and present Nigerian States’ First Ladies (wives of State Governors), who are passionate about the fight against cancers, and use their position and NGOs to champion the campaign.

The OCI Foundation was represented at the dinner by Dr Joe EZIECHILA (an esteemed associate of the Foundation and the Clinical Director at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, Abuja) and Dr Fatima INUSA (OCI Foundation’s Director of Gynocular Project).

FLAC is partnering with the OCI Foundation in the Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Health Campaign, which is the Foundation’s novel, Harvard-endorsed, WHO-supported, and evidence-based health promotion initiative that primarily seeks to introduce anti-breast and anti-cervical cancer programs into the NYSCs orientation activities across Nigeria. It also aims to include preventive teachings into the academic curriculum of all senior secondary schools in Nigeria’s 36 states (and the FCT) before the end of 2025.

The Campaign has also introduced the CerviBreast App (a free and interactive mobile phone application) and the Gynocular Project (for free and/or highly-subsidized digital cervical cancer screenings), as novel ways of boosting anti-cancer services to Nigerians.
