On Friday, July the 3rd, 2020, the OCI Foundation delivered some of its customized face masks to the leadership of the Anambra State Post Primary Secondary Schools Commission (PPSSC), at their headquarters in Awka, Nigeria. This is part of the OCI Foundation’s effort to assist Nigerians in protecting themselves against COVID-19, our customized face masks are now in circulation across Nigeria.
The OCI Foundation was led by Mrs Imelda Emeka, the Foundation’s Domestic Liaison Officer, while the PPSSC was represented by Mrs Josephine Onuorah, the State Secretary. Other members of the PPSSC at the event, who also act as liaisons for the OCI Foundation, were Mrs Eucharia Illikah, and Mrs Sabina Ndigwe.
The PPSSC are official partners of the OCI Foundation, and were vital to the successful roll-out of the Foundation’s Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Health Campaign across all the senior secondary schools in Anambra State, Nigeria, a program that has been on since September 2019. The ArOY Campaign is a novel, evidence-based, Harvard-endorsed, health promotion initiative of the OCI Foundation, designed to introduce anti-breast and anti-cervical cancer teachings across all the senior secondary schools in Nigeria. Apart from Anambra State, advanced plans already in place to have it rolled out across schools in Benue State, once the COVID-19 lock-downs are fully eased. Early negotiations are in place with stakeholders in Gombe and Jigawa states, and all the senior secondary schools across all the 36 states of Nigeria, as well as the FCT, are expected to benefit from the ArOY Campaign before the end of 2025.
