Sharing is caring!

The OCI Foundation is pleased to announce that all is now set for the Second (2022/2023) Edition of her state-wide quiz competition designed to help boost engagements with the  Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Health Campaign in Anambra State.

This annual contest, called the “Anambra ArOY Health Campaign Schools Challenge, (Anambra AHCSC)“, is being staged in conjunction with the Post Primary Schools Service Commission (PPSSC) of Anambra State.

The zonal rounds will hold over the month of October 2022. The PPSSC has SIX zones in Anambra State, and these, alongside their schedules, include Awka (October 12), Ogidi (0ctober 13), Otuocha (October 18), Aguata (October 20), Nnewi (October 25), Onitsha (October 27). These dates can be changed, should unforeseen circumstances arise.

Dates for the Zonal Competitions (Subject to Changes).

The Quiz Contest is being staged as way to enhance engagement with the Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Health Campaign, which, in September 2019, introduced anti-breast and anti-cervical cancer teachings into the curriculum of all public senior secondary schools in Anambra State.

The Semi-Final will hold at a date to be announced later. As is the tradition for this initiative, the Grande Finale will hold on (or around) February 4th of 2023, a date chosen to coincide with the annual commemoration of the Global World Cancer Day. This will be in Awka, the capital city of Anambra State.

Anambra is first in Nigeria to roll out the ArOY Campaign program in all its senior secondary schools. A Bill is currently being sponsored by the OCI Foundation, which will see to a compulsory inclusion of the program into the curriculum of schools in all of Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT.

The OCI Foundation’s ArOY Health Campaign has been a huge success across Anambra State. It is an anti-breast and anti-cervical cancer initiative that introduced the relevant teachings and assessments into the curriculum of all the 261 public senior secondary schools in Anambra State back in September 2019.

A research analysis of a 12-month evaluation study of the program has shown a significant impact, and is due for publication soon. All of Nigeria’s 36 states, and the FCT, are expected to benefit before the end of 2025.
