Introduced in 2017, the IFOMSSA (Ifedioramma Okafor Memorial Secondary School Academic) awards was established in loving memory of the late Obi Ifedioramma Isaac Okafor, who is the father of the OCI Foundation Founder, Dr. Chris Ifediora.
This year’s (2025) Awards-giving Ceremony is the 9th Edition, and was held on January 24, 2025.
The IFOMSSA (Junior and Senior) scholarships are two of the 7 awards offered by the OCI Foundation, named after the late Mr Ifedioramma Isaac Okafor (1939 to 2016), an Education Champion and father of the OCI Foundation’s Founder and President, Dr Chris Ifediora.
The Junior IFOMSSA Award is specifically for Junior Secondary School (JSS) students preparing for their Junior School Certificate Examination (JSCE). It covers the JSSCE registration fees of all eligible JSS-3 students of Nsugbe origin attending the Community High School, Nsugbe.
Winners of the IFOMSSA Senior Award were selected from the annual IFOMSSA Challenge, a yearly one-day examination organised by the OCI Foundation in conjunction with the Otuocha Zone of the Anambra State Post Primary Schools Service Commission, PPSSC (which is in charge of the educational activities in Anambra East Local Government Area of Nigeria). This year’s Challenge was held on January 17, 2025. The Senior Award covers the registration fees of the winners for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examination Commission (NECO) Examinations. Winners of the IFOMMSA Senior Award will also have their Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examination registration fees automatically covered once they indicate interest in proceeding with this exam.
