Onyebuchi Chris Ifediora (OCI) Foundation has condemned the recent attack on Senator Ifeanyi Patrick Uba and his convoy.
A statement jointly signed by the OCI Foundation and Sweet Home Africa Humanitarian Foundation (SHAHF) at the weekend described the incident “as very despicable”.
The statement appreciated God for sparing his life, and consoled him on the loss of his aides, praying God to continue to rest their souls.
The President of the OCI Foundation, Professor Chris Ifediora, represented by a member of the Abuja Advocacy team, Mrs. Ebele Udechukwu, pointed out that through Senator Uba’s partnership, the Sweet Home Africa and OCI Foundation had witnessed unparalleled philanthropic gestures, and that Nigeria and her youths needed him in good health with long life.
The President of Sweet Home Africa, Reverend Austin Epunam, listed areas of collaborations and strong impact with the Senator to include: The “Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Anti-cancer Health Campaign” being felt positively by hundreds of thousands of Nigerian youths across the country, being part of the anti-cancer partnership with the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) had amplified the life-saving messages, and his firm support and commitment for the anti-cancer Bill, currently at the National Assembly where Nigerian youths would always benefit from.
Reverend Epunam who is also the National Champion of the OCI Foundation urged the Senator not to be deterred in sustaining his various interventions on nation building by the attack.
The hroups also noted Senator Uba’s commitment to expanding cancer screening projects to communities in Anambra State and looked forward to a more productive and longstanding partnerships.
Responding, Senator Uba described the Sweet Home Africa and OCI Foundation as a blessing to the country especially to youths.
He said the cancer awareness campaign had impacted positively on the lives of many Nigerians and commended efforts of the groups, even as he pledged his continued support.
Senator Ifeanyi Uba who represents Anambra South Senatorial zone on the platform of Young Progressives Party (YPP) was attacked at Nkwo Enugwu Ukwu junction in Njikoka local government area of the state.
Assassins had unleashed a barrage of bullets at his convoy, which resulted in the killing of his aides, including five police escorts in the convoy.
According to a statement by Ubah’s media aide, Kameh Ogbonna, his bullet-proof jeep saved his life.
