Sounds and Origins of the OCI Foundation’s “WE RISE” Slogan, as it Echoes Around Nigeria’s NYSC Orientation Camps.

Sharing is caring!

The OCI Foundation’s Motto, “We Rise, By Lifting Others”, has become a global cliche. The videos below capture these sayings by corps members across Nigeria’s 37 NYSC orientation camps.

This is a project that reaches hundreds of thousands of Nigerian youths, annually. The NYSC is the largest youth organisation in Africa.

The “We Rise” slogan has now become a global cliche. The video explains its origins, and how the OCI Foundation invented it. It is a proud invention of the OCI Foundation’s President, with the assistance pf the Vice President (in April 2016). These combination of words were not in existence before this date, and all allusions to third party originators (including on Google) is incorrect.

"We Rise, By Lifting Others": An Invention of the OCI Foundation, and the story behind it.

The OCI Foundation’s  “Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Anti-Cancer Health Campaign” with Nigeria’s National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) is being delivered in conjunction with the Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS), the Nigerian First Ladies Against Cancer (FLAC), and the Sweet Home Africa Humanitarian Foundation (SHAHF). In addition, the Future Assured Foundation (an NGO established by the current Nigerian First Lady, HE, Aisha Buhari),  the Senator Ifeanyi Uba Foundation, Breast Without Spots (BWS), and other groups, have identified with this project.

The Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Anti-Cancer Health Campaign is part of the OCI Foundation’s efforts at regularly empowering hundreds of thousands of Nigerian youths with anti-breast and anti-cervical cancer preventive messages. Nigerian Senior Secondary Schools are also the target of a related but separate arm of the ArOY Health Campaign.

The Campaign with the NYSC holds six times (editions) a year across Nigeria’s 37 National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Camps. It started in with the Batch A Stream 1 (March) of 2022.
