ANNOUNCEMENT . . .
April 27, 2024: Applications for the OCI Foundation’s 2024 Cyfed Undergraduate Scholarships (CUS) and the Cyfed-Bradley Hope (CBH) Scholarships CLOSED at midnight of April 26th, 2024 (Nigerian Time).
This year (2024) marks the EIGHTH consecutive year of the Cyfed Scholarships’ Scheme.
We are thrilled to announce that we have received an unprecedented number of applications. We have been inundated with hundreds of applications from all corners of Nigeria, representing virtually all known tertiary institutions in all geopolitical regions of the country.
This level of interest puts the OCI Foundation in an exciting, yet challenging position. While we are committed to supporting the education of all Nigerians, the reality on the ground is that our finances are not unlimited.
This acknowledged limitation is the reason why our educational scholarship scheme had largely benefited Anambra State indigenes before now, unlike our Health Project (the Arm Our Youths Health Campaign), which is national.
WHAT TO EXPECT . . .
Nevertheless, in view of the massive interest and our commitment to supporting Nigerian youths on our traditional tripod of activities (i.e., the promotion and advancement of Health, Education and Public/Social Welfare), we wish to state the following:
- The OCI Foundation will do its best to recognise and support applicants from outside Anambra State, starting with the current 2024 applications.
- From 2025, we will endeavour to create a category for potential scholars who are not indigenes of Anambra State.
- As always, everything will be on MERIT, with preferences given to applicants that (a) are ACADEMICALLY BRILLIANT and (b) have DEMONSTRABLE FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES. Our system is designed to identify these.
- We expect to conclude everything about this scholarship round (including the selection of winners and cash payouts within the next THREE MONTHS (i.e., by the end of July 2024).
- The next steps, therefore, will be as follows:
(a) Vetting of all the applications received in Round 1 (Round 1 is the just concluded application exercise).
(b) After the vetting comes Round 2, which will be the shortlisting of candidates that are eligible for the next round.
(c) Round 3 is the interview stage.
(d) Winners will be announced shortly after Round 3 (the interviews).
(3) As stated, everything will be concluded before the end of July 2024.
