The OCI Foundation’s president (Dr Chris Ifediora) was among the 10 distinguished Nigerians honoured with the prestigious “Mayor of World Peace (MP-UN)” Award at the “2022 World Peace Day Celebration” by the United Nations Peace and Positive Awareness Living Centre (UN-PEPOLAC). The MP-UN is the highest honour on offer by the UN-PEPOLAC.

According to the Trustees and Special Projects Committee of UN-PEPOLAC, this Investiture, as well as the Invitation as a “Special Guest to the Ceremony”, was due to Dr Ifediora’s “pedigree, contributions to world peace, and human capital development in Nigeria through health initiatives and empowerment projects”.

Themed, “End Racism, Build Peace”, the “2022 World Peace Day Celebration” was held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at the Prof Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. The Chief Guest of Honour was His Excellency, Prof. Charles SOLUDO, the Executive Governor of Anambra State.

Among the other recipients of the award were His Excellency, Mr Peter OBI (the former Governor of Anambra State and a frontline candidate for the 2023 Nigerian presidential election), His Excellency, Dr Chukwuemeka EZEIFE (a former Governor of Anambra State and former Political Adviser to Nigeria’s [President Olusegun OBASANJO), Chief Barr Allen ONYEAMA (the CEO of Air Peace Nigeria), the Most Reverend Alexander IBEZIM (the Anglican Bishop of Awka and Archbishop of Niger Province), and His Royal Majesty, Pharmacist Alexander Onyido (Igwe Ezechuamagha of Ogidi Kingdom).

Dr Chris Ifediora dedicated this honour to the “hundreds of the OCI Foundation’s members and volunteers across the Nigerian nation, and across the globe”. He was represented by a high-profile OCI Foundation delegation led by Lady Joy ULASI (the Foundation’s Champion for Anambra State), as well as Lady Ogechi EGUJOR, Mr Charles OKOH, Dr Ifunanya IKWUKA, and Mr Chinedu OBIEGBO.
