2 of 3: OCI Foundation Celebrates Dr Alhassan Umar Adamu as he Completes 2nd Term as NCS President and Hands Over

October 25 to November 2, 2024

The OCI Foundation Celebrates Dr Alhassan Umar Adamu, who completed his two-term tenure as the President of the Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS) during the ICW. Under his highly successful tenure, the OCI Foundation established a partnership with the NCS and executed a number of impactful and historic projects.

One of the projects executed was the inclusion of the “Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Anti-Cancer Health” Project into the regular orientation activities of Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme. This project, launched by the then Nigerian First Lady (Dr Aisha Buhari), currently sees to the empowerment of millions of Nigerian youths with life-saving anti-cancer messages across the country on an annual basis.

Another project was the complete and successful passage of the ArOY Campaign Anti-Cancer Bill by both chambers of the Nigerian National Assembly in 2023. This Bill, still awaiting Presidential assent to become the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, sees to the inclusion of anti-cancer teachings into the curriculum of all Nigerian senior secondary schools. Few details are available HERE.

Many other joint NCS-OCI Foundation projects abound, thanks to the amiable, resourceful and found leadership provided by Dr Adamu. The OCI Foundation wishes a successful sojourn in its next endeavour.

The Foundation also welcomes the leadership of the incoming executives. we look forward to an even more productive partnership.
