Sweet Home Africa and OCI Foundations condole with Senator Uba on recent attack; Lauds anti-cancer partnership with him (22/09/2022; Abuja, Nigeria)

Two frontline anti-cancer NGOs in Nigeria, the Sweet Home Africa Humanitarian Foundation (SHAHF) and the Onyebuchi Chris Ifediora (OCI) Foundation International, have expressed their solidarity and condolence to Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Patrick Uba, on the recent armed attack on him and his convoy.

The Organizations strongly condemned the incident, describing it as very despicable. They appreciated God for sparing his life in an attack that occurred on Sunday, September 11, 2022, and consoled him on the loss of his aides, praying God to continue to rest their souls.

The organisations were accompanied by representatives of the Omega Power Ministries (OPM) and the Excellent Leadership, an Abuja-based NGO.

During his speech, the President of the OCI Foundation, Professor Chris Ifediora, represented by a member of the Foundation’s Advocacy Team in Abuja, Nigeria, Mrs. Ebele Udechukwu, pointed out that, through Senator Uba’s partnership, both the SHAHF and the OCI Foundation have been able to expand and amplify their anti-cancer life-saving messages, with Nigerians witnessing unparalleled philanthropic gestures. He added that Nigeria and her youths need Senator Ifeanyi Uba in good health and with long life.

In his own remark, the Founder of the Sweet Home Africa Humanitarian Foundation (and authors of the prestigious Sweet Home Magazine), Reverend Dr Austin Epunam, stated that one of the areas of collaborations and strong impact with the Senator include the “Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Anti-cancer Health Campaign” with the Nigerian National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) which is being felt positively by hundreds of thousands of Nigerian youths across the country.

Other areas of collaboration, according to him, was Dr Uba’s firm support and commitment for an anti-cancer Bill that aims to integrate anti-breast and anti-cervical cancer teachings into the curriculum of Senior Secondary Schools in Nigeria. that Bill is currently at the Public Hearing state with Nigerian National Assembly, and will benefit millions of Nigerian youths in a cost-effective and sustainable way.

Reverend Epunam, who is also the National Champion of the OCI Foundation, noted that their collaboration with Senator Uba is at the final stages of introducing cervical cancer screening projects to communities in Anambra State of Nigeria. He urged the Senator not to let the attack on his life deter him in sustaining his various interventions on nation building, as they look forward to a longstanding and more productive partnership.

Responding, Senator Uba described the Sweet Home Africa and OCI Foundation as a blessing to the Nigerian nation, especially to youths. He said that the cancer awareness campaign had impacted positively on the lives of many Nigerians, and commended efforts of the groups, as he pledged his continued support.

Alongside Revd. Austin Epunam and Mrs Ebele Udechukwu, Mr Luter Ikyobo and Mr Ifeanyi Anueyiagu were other members of the OCI Foundation/Sweet Home Africa Foundation present at the visit. The OPM Ministry was represented by its Welfare Liaison Officer in Abuja, Pastor Samson Ajaegbo, while the Excellent Leadership NGO had its CEO, Ms Eunice Bosua, in attendance.
